FINTAX ANDORRA is a law and tax firm founded by Mr. José María Alfin in October 2020. Jose Maria Alfin was the former Chief Legal Office of GENERAL MOTORS RFC for Spain and Head of the Legal & Tax Area of ANDBANK, which nowadays is the bank leader in Andorra with presence in more than 10 countries helping the bank to expand its presence in Mexico; Brazil; Monaco; Luxembourg, Spain; Uruguay; Chile; Miami, Panama and Bahamas. He also assumed responsibility of the Wealth Planning department of the bank helping private clients from many countries in several matters such tax optimization; residences, relocations; corporate issues and estate planning matters.

Due to his extensive knowledge of international law, corporate international matters and new technologies, he decided to focus the firm in three core services: Tax & Immigration; Corporate and Commercial Law and New Technologies.

Jose Maria set up the office in Escaldes-Engordany, which is in a very good location very close to Caldea, one of the icons of Andorra. He soon realized that his competitors had a very generalist expertise and that specialization was necessary to provide a quality and excellent service. Jose Maria Alfin is a Spanish lawyer and a member of the Barcelona Bar Association. He is also a lawyer in Andorra and member of the Andorran Bar Association. The aim of the firm is to provide quality services and to seek the excellence that international clients require in a globalized world. Jose Maria Alfin has been working with international firms for many years and his incorporation as the only Andorran member of the international association of tax advisors has given him an extensive network of collaborators in all the countries of the world. It also has a strategic agreement with one of the most prestigious firms in Spain, Gómez Acebo y Pombo.

Due to the fact that there was no direct taxation system in Andorra until 2011, when a direct tax affecting companies and the self-employed was implemented for the first time, and in 2015 the law on personal income tax came into force, the lack of experts in the country in these matters made him the person of reference for advising international and local clients. However, the low taxation of the country has not been an obstacle for the OECD to recognize that the Andorran tax system is homologable and, in fact, Andorra has an extensive network of agreements to avoid double taxation.

Furthermore, Jose Maria Alfin was appointed exclusive correspondent for the world's most important international tax database, IBFD, and was also called upon by BLOOMBERG TAX for this task. In the tax area, he is also member of the Spanish Association of Tax Advisor, Andorra Association of Tax Advisor and International Fiscal Association.

Jose María Alfin is ranked in Chambers Global and Chambers Europe as one of the top international business law specialists based in Andorra.

The complexity of globalization requires professionals to have international knowledge and experience when advising their clients. It is therefore essential that the advisor understands the ins and outs of their client's business. If the lawyer or adviser does not understand the objective or the goal pursued by his clients, it will be very difficult to provide a quality service.

Therefore, the services offered by the firm are focused on these three main areas: taxation and immigration, international corporate & financial matters and new technologies, the scope of which is becoming increasingly important and complex.

The growth of the firm in one year has been exponential but the philosophy is not to create a global services firm but to advise on what the firm is good and experienced for clients who requireservices in these areas of specialisation.
